OUR CLASSES
The venue will open for in-person registration for the festival from:
- Monday 4th August from 4pm – 6pm.
- Tuesday 5th August from 8am onwards.
- Tuesday 12th August from 8am onwards.
Note: Classes will start promptly at 9am. Registration involves filling in a waiver form (2-5 minutes), and then 1-2 minutes at the desk to receive your class timetable, hand in your form, and ask any questions. There may be a queue at busy times.

WARM UP
It is compulsory that you take a warm up if you are attending a morning class. We can’t stress enough how important a good warm up is to prepare you for your day ahead whilst also giving you some really useful information to take away and there’s a great selection to choose from.

GYROTONIC® INSPIRED MOVEMENT
This movement class is based on the homework series for Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® practitioners, a fluid, exercise practice to help you reconnect the body by gently working the joints and muscles through rhythmic and undulating movements.

KINSTRETCH®
Full body CARs (Controlled Articular Rotations)
Mobilising and activating each joint in isolation as a way to ignite and strengthen our functional movement capacities in preparation for any physical activity. CARs will build your understanding of your functional joint capacity…

LOW FLY HARNESS
(Formerly Aerial Dance Harness)
In this class we’ll work in solos and duets using climbing equipment and sit harnesses to create moments of suspension and flight whilst…

AERIAL DANCE TRAPEZE
ADT is a trapeze where the ropes are rigged to a single point forming a triangular shape allowing the trapeze to spin and the performer to move with ease (eventually) between the floor and the air.

ACCESSIBILITY AND DISABILITY
This teacher training is for coaches who want to consider access in their teaching practices and understand how to break down some of the inherent ableism…

BUNGEE HARNESS
A harness with a back pickup point, connected to a strong bundle of bungee cord. This allows a lot of bounce and float while using a downward motion to stretch the bungee and then springing up out of it.

COCOON
A single piece of fabric rigged as a long loop in which to explore that has the potential to offer more support to the body than traditional aerial fabric techniques.

CONTACT DANCE
Another great warm down with the beautiful ocean view or just for the joy of dancing with other people under Magalie’s generous and sensitive tuition.

CORDE LISSE / ROPE
Corde lisse or rope is exactly what it sounds like; a rope rigged from a single point on which to climb and find wraps, locks and descents. At a higher level it becomes a balancing apparatus with the potential for dynamic and release work.

COUNTERWEIGHT HARNESS
This class uses side pick up harnesses (2 points) with the flyer connected to another person (counterweighter) who works with them to find flight, ascents and descents.

CYR WHEEL
Cyr is a large steel or aluminium ring that makes a great dance/acro partner – given enough skill and training! This class has the added bonus of giving your body a break (albeit challenging) from aerial hanging.

FABRIC
Also called silks, tissu or curtains – they’re not curtains! Consisting of a single piece of fabric, rigged from the middle to provide 2 tails of fabric on which to climb and find various wraps, or ‘locks’ and ‘keys’ to those in the know.

FLOOR TO AIR
This class will be about working on your movement from the floor to your apparatus (the air). This is not an aerial technique class, but about choreography, movement, emotions, ground work, and transitions.

HANDBALANCE
Hand balancing is a great tool for aerialists to develop, utilising the push rather than the pull. This is key to injury prevention and future progress. This class will look at correct technique and improving confidence and endurance.

INTRO TO CONTORTION
An introductory course with a focus on building strength, stability and body awareness, suitable both for those new to contortion as well as those looking to further develop their skills.

LYRA / AERIAL HOOP
Looks like a hula-hoop hanging from the sky. A magical device of exquisite torture. There may be spinning involved…

MASSAGE AND STRETCH
In this warm down session, you’ll be led through simple Tailendaise massage sequences (Shiatsu and Thai), to ease up any pain and soreness in the body and help prepare you for the next day.

STRAPS
Straps are two long thin pieces of material, with or without loops at the end, that you wrap or secure onto your wrists or ankles. Arguably one of the more difficult apparatus as you don’t have much to work with!

VERTICAL DANCE
Vertical Dance refers to the plane on which the dance exploration happens. Using climbing harnesses and equipment we upend the dance floor by 90 degrees, using the wall as our dance floor. Liberating, fun, at times strenuous and also discombobulating! There are a variety of classes to choose from here, technique, creative, and doubles.

WARM DOWN
We highly recommend that where possible you take a led warm down as your tutors will still have some amazing gems to impart late in the day and will guide you towards what to do to help recovery for the next day.
