Welly O'Brien
Welly O ' Brien is a disabled performer. She gained an apprenticeship with Candoco dance company in 1998 and subsequently went on to perform as a full time dancer / teacher with the company from 2000-2004, she went on to have a family and in the late naughties went back to performing as an understudy/ dancer with Candoco in various projects. Alongside rep she performed in the film Cuckoo, on stage at the Paralympic closing ceremony and Strictly come dancing on the BBC.
She has performed in various Aerial performances. Prometheus awakes with la fura dels baus at Greenwich and Docklands festival and Stockton International festival. The three Fridas with wired areal at Greenwich and Docklands and touring with Scarabeus in 'Heartlands' around festivals in the UK.
In recent years she has been involved in research with Nottingham and C-dare universities with Robotics and AI, and various R&D with Gravity and Levity.
This is the third year she will be joining the Access team with EADF, inclusion is really important to her and feels the festival is a true example access at its best. She is looking forward to meeting and working with everyone again.
